Thyristor modules are basically hybrid integrated devices containing usually two or one semiconductor element (power thyristor) in a modular construction.
The primary function of a thyristor module is to control electric power and current by acting as a switch. Power thyristor modules are used in DC and AC circuits with loads from 115A to 1250A and voltages up to 6500V.
Power thyristor modules are manufactured in standard industrial housing sizes, which simplifies interchangeability of modules from different manufacturers and allows easy integration of the device into existing equipment.
